In December of 2006, we relocated to West Africa, and located in Lomé, Togo. The Lord has opened the door for us to partner with African national churches and missionaries to develop strategies for reaching their children. We work not only in Togo, but throughout the West Africa region as well.
We believe strongly that training pastors and adult leaders is the most effective way of ministering to children cross-culturally. We want to encourage teachers through training seminars, to empower teachers through hands-on experience, provide space for children’s ministries, and to equip teachers with culturally- appropriate and age-appropriate curriculum.
While preparing to return to West Africa, we worked alongside Africa’s Children, the Assemblies of God agency working to promote children’s ministries in Africa. In the fall of 2005, we began the collaboration to create ministry tools for Africa called the Children’s Ministry Toolbox. Robin served as Administrator of Africa’s Children for a short time.

2004-2005: KidsQuest International
In 2004 and 2005 we had the opportunity to work with Quest Ministries International, home of KidsQuest. We worked in many nations training teachers, holding children’s crusades and developing curriculum. In 18 months of ministry with Quest, Phil and Robin were able to promote indigenous children’s ministries in every region of the world.
2000-2002: Cote D’Ivoire (Ivory Coast), West Africa:
After our appointment to Foreign Missions in 1998, we worked in Côte d’Ivoire, (Ivory Coast) West Africa. We helped build Sunday schools for children, trained Ivorian children’s church leaders and worked to strengthen the National Children’s Ministries department. In August of 2002, we hosted two crusade festivals attended by over 40,000 children, which emphasized AIDS awareness and the message of hope in Jesus. In September of 2002, we were evacuated by military forces from Cote d’Ivoire.
